89 wolves have been killed in Switzerland during the so-called regulation phase. The aim of the authorities was to reduce livestock killings and achieve coexistence between humans and wolves. Environmental organizations, on the other hand, insist on herd protection.

According to the national figures, livestock kills remained at a low level. However, this development had already begun before the wolf hunt from September to January, wrote the nature conservation organizations Pro Natura, WWF Switzerland, the Wolf Switzerland group and Birdlife Switzerland in a joint press release.
"The key to the conflict-free coexistence of alpine farming and wolves remains the establishment and expansion of herd protection", the associations emphasized. They are therefore calling for an impact assessment. The real impact of the killings must be investigated in detail.
They also criticize "questionable shooting permits for inconspicuous wolf packs" by the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN). There have also been false shootings. They expect clear improvements in the next regulatory phase and will monitor developments closely, the nature conservation associations announced.
