Estonia has received six US Himars multiple rocket launchers in one of the largest arms deals in its history. The mobile missile systems with a range of 300 kilometers were handed over to the army of the EU and NATO country bordering Russia at the Ämari military airfield, according to the Estonian Defence Investment Centre in Tallinn. This closes an important capability gap.

"They are here!" wrote Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna on Platform X. "This not only strengthens Estonia's defense, but also increases the security of the entire NATO alliance."

Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine is seen as a direct threat to national security in Estonia. The small Baltic Sea state in north-eastern Europe has therefore increased its military spending and is arming itself. In addition to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have also ordered several Himars missile systems.
