The European Union has set up an airlift to bring relief supplies to the Sudanese crisis region of Darfur. According to the EU, the first of a total of eight flights delivered around 100 tons of relief supplies. The operation is set to continue until January 2026.

The airlift transports emergency shelters, water and sanitary equipment as well as medical supplies. According to the EU, it has provided more than 270 million euros (around 252 million Swiss francs) in emergency aid to Sudan this year alone, making it one of the largest donors.

The humanitarian situation was reported to have deteriorated dramatically at the end of October. The region is currently considered one of the most difficult regions in the world for humanitarian aid workers to reach. Civilians who have fled report massive violations of international law.
