The EU states want to increase the pressure on rejected asylum seekers and handle deportations more efficiently. To this end, people without the right to stay will be subject to new obligations and will see their benefits cut if they fail to cooperate with the authorities, the member states announced after reaching an agreement at a meeting of European interior ministers in Brussels.
