A bomb explosion in Moscow has killed a man whom Ukraine considers to be a collaborator with the Russian occupying forces. The explosive device detonated in the entrance area of a high-rise building with expensive apartments, Russian media reported. Three other people were injured in the incident.

The State Investigative Committee in Russia assumed that the attack was targeted. It identified the dead man as Armen Sargsyan, president of the boxing federation in the Moscow-controlled Donetsk region of Ukraine.

Battalion set up to fight against Ukraine

The Ukrainian secret service SBU classifies him as a criminal from the circle of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych. He is said to have organized groups of thugs who beat up demonstrators during the pro-European protests in Kiev in 2013/14. When Russia began its large-scale invasion in 2022, Sargsyan is said to have set up a battalion of convicts in Donetsk to fight against Ukraine.

Several people in Russia have been killed who Ukraine considers to be collaborators or responsible for the war. In mid-December 2024, Russian General Igor Kirillov was killed in Moscow by a remotely detonated explosive device.
