Israeli troops have invaded part of the city of Gaza, according to Palestinian eyewitnesses. According to the reports, soldiers were spotted in the Sabra neighborhood, particularly near a local school building. The Israeli army said on request that it would not comment on the positions of its soldiers.

The Israeli leadership has approved a plan to capture the city of Gaza. Prior to this, it is planned to evacuate the city, which is estimated to be home to around one million people.
According to media reports, the offensive is not expected to begin until September at the earliest. Most recently, however, Israeli soldiers have already advanced into the suburbs of the coastal city. Israeli ground troops have already been deployed in the Sabra district since the beginning of the Gaza war almost two years ago.
Aid organizations have warned of a further deterioration of the already catastrophic humanitarian situation in the coastal strip, which is home to around two million Palestinians. The IPC initiative had declared a famine for the city of Gaza and some neighboring towns. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the report as an "outright lie".
