The Federal Council is preparing the next IV revision with two main thrusts. It concerns new pensions for mentally impaired young people and the poor financial prospects. The Department of Home Affairs is to look at additional funding.

As the Federal Council announced on Friday, new pensions for young people are a major challenge for disability insurance (IV). The Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA) is therefore to examine measures for increased integration into the labor market.
These include a benefit aimed specifically at young people, which is intended to prevent a rapid award of a pension through intensive individual support. The IV has already taken further measures with regard to new pensions for young people.
The increasingly precarious financial situation of the IV also prompted the Federal Council to instruct the FDHA to examine additional funding. By 2024, the IV's reserves will have fallen to 37.5 percent of one year's expenditure. The Federal Council intends to adopt the guidelines for the revision in August 2026.
