Next Thursday, August 1, Rösti will be speaking in Wimmis BE, Rothrist AG, Schöftland AG and Rümlang and Ossingen in the canton of Zurich. On this day, Rösti will be traveling by car, as the distances are easy to cover, the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC) announced at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency.
Rösti can already be seen next Wednesday, July 31, in Kesswil TG and Wilderswil BE. There is a possibility that Rösti will be traveling by helicopter.
Rösti is not the first Federal Councillor to have to rush from one 1 August speech to the next. Ignazio Cassis gave five speeches in 2022 and Guy Parmelin in 2019, as the Federal Chancellery reported on request. Former Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer spoke at six different events in the cantons of Bern, Zurich and Thurgau in 2017.
Only two appearances in French-speaking Switzerland
President Viola Amherd will also speak on July 31 in Möriken-Wildegg in the canton of Aargau. Parmelin will also be attending the federal celebrations in the city of Lucerne. On August 1, Parmelin speaks at the "Bundeszmorgen" in Stein am Rhein SH and in the evening at the national celebration in Jussy in the canton of Geneva. His speech in Jussy is just one of two Federal Council speeches taking place in French-speaking Switzerland this year. The second speech in French-speaking Switzerland will be given by Elisabeth Baume-Schneider on August 1 in Saint-Pierre-de-Clages VS. The day before, she will appear in Rorschach SG.
Beat Jans will speak at a farmers' brunch in Schüpfen BE on the morning of the national holiday and in the evening on the Bleichenberg in Biberist SO.
Federal Councillors also on the road abroad
In mid-July, Mr. Cassis was the first member of the Federal Council to take part in August 1st celebrations. From July 10 to 15, the Foreign Minister made official visits to Latin America and took part in the August 1st celebrations of the Swiss community in Peru and the Swiss embassy in Costa Rica.
He will continue his visit next Tuesday, July 30, at the House of Switzerland at the Olympic Games in Paris. On August 1, Mr Cassis will speak in Guarda GR and Sessa TI. Karin Keller-Sutter, who will be speaking in New York, will not be in Switzerland on the national holiday.
