French financial investigators have set their sights on President Emmanuel Macron's official residence, the Élysée Palace. As part of an investigation into the awarding of ceremonies for the admission of people to the Pantheon, they wanted to carry out searches in several places, including the Élysée Palace. However, they were denied access to the offices of the presidential palace, according to the Paris financial prosecutor's office.

According to the French investigative newspaper "Le Canard Enchaîné", the ceremonies were organized by the same company for 22 years, from 2002 to 2024. Each of the ceremonies was billed at around two million euros. According to the newspaper, the financial investigators want to find out whether the company could have received support from the Élysée, the Ministry of Culture or the CMN, the center for state monuments responsible for awarding the contract.
The Pantheon, which was originally planned as a church, has honored important representatives of the country such as Victor Hugo, Émile Zola, Voltaire and Rousseau since the French Revolution. It is very rare for people to be added to the Pantheon.
