In a new Russian airstrike, houses in six districts of the Ukrainian capital Kiev were damaged by debris from drones shot down. Mayor Vitali Klitschko spoke of at least two people injured on his Telegram channel. The military administration in Kiev announced that several fires had been extinguished. One police officer had suffered smoke inhalation. In one house, a fire broke out on the 15th and 16th floors and 18 people were brought to safety. According to official reports, several cars were also damaged.
People in the city of millions had been on air raid alert for more than five hours during the night until the morning. Explosions were heard as a result of the drones being fired. The air defense destroyed all flying objects, it was said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the new terrorist attacks. He said they were proof that the pressure on Russia and its accomplices was not enough. From four in the morning, other regions, including Sumy and Kharkiv on the border with Russia, were also attacked from the air. Zelenskyi thanked the air defense, which has been shooting down drones every night in the Russian war of aggression that has been going on for more than two and a half years. The air defense reported a total of 71 Russian drone attacks.
