On the occasion of Fish Day on Saturday, the Swiss Fishing Association called for more respect for nature. Water is an indispensable elixir of life for people, the economy and energy, but also for nature.
Biodiversity in and around water in Switzerland is in a very poor state, the fishing association wrote in a press release. Two thirds of native fish species are already extinct or endangered.
The motto of this year's Fish Day is therefore "Water is life". This is because the importance of waters "worth living in" is often overlooked in public perception.
