Shortly afterwards, the same alleged perpetrator is said to have fired again in a court building, slightly injuring four other people. The 89-year-old was arrested a few hours later in the western Greek port city of Patras, as reported by Greek radio.

Eyewitnesses described the man as confused. He is said to have received psychiatric treatment in recent years, according to police sources. All the injured are out of danger, the rescue service said.

According to initial information from Greek radio, the incident may have been triggered by a dispute with the authorities over a pension.
