Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has sharply criticized the British-French plans for a possible deployment of peacekeeping troops in Ukraine and threatened war against NATO. French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer "played dumb", Medvedev wrote on the X platform. Although they had been repeatedly told that peacekeepers should come from non-NATO countries, the two were sticking to their plans, the vice-chairman of Russia's National Security Council accused them.

If they "want to offer military assistance to the neo-Nazis in Kiev, that means war with NATO", Medvedev continued. He advised the two politicians in Paris and London, whom he insulted as "scumbags", to consult with US President Donald Trump.

Medvedev, who was considered a liberal politician during his time as President of Russia (2008-2012), has repeatedly attracted attention with harsh threats such as the use of nuclear weapons against the West since the start of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine three years ago.

Starmer wants to establish a "coalition of the willing", which could also secure peace in Ukraine with its own troops in the event of an agreement.
