Linda Yaccarino, the former head of Elon Musk's online platform X, is going into the weight loss medication business. The 61-year-old has taken over as head of the American online health company eMed.
Yaccarino left the top job at X, the former Twitter, at the beginning of July after a good two years. Her new employer, eMed Population Health, had built up a coronavirus testing business during the pandemic. The company is now focusing on a platform for supporting people who take GLP-1 drugs such as Wegovy and Zepbound for weight loss.
Yaccarino, who was once responsible for the advertising business at media giant NBCUniversal, was busy at X talking to advertisers spooked by Musk. After Musk's Twitter takeover in 2022, many companies stayed away from the online platform because they feared that their advertising could appear alongside problematic posts. Yaccarino publicly dismissed such concerns as unfounded.
