France has summoned US Ambassador Charles Kushner for today because of a letter to French President Emmanuel Macron regarding anti-Semitic incidents in the country.
In the letter, Kushner expressed his "concern about the increase in anti-Semitic acts in France and pointed to an alleged failure of the French authorities to combat these acts", the French Foreign Ministry announced on Sunday evening.
"The accusations are unacceptable," it continued. It deplored the increase in anti-Semitic incidents in France since October 7, 2023, which are a reality. The French authorities would do everything in their power to combat this, the ministry said. The ambassador's accusations would violate the duty under international law not to interfere in the internal affairs of other states.
