Thousands of schoolchildren accompanied their parents to the workplace or took part in special projects on National Future Day. A total of 2828 companies and institutions throughout Switzerland opened their doors on Thursday, according to the organizers.

The Federal Statistical Office (FSO), for example, offered 45 children an insight into careers in IT, scientific assistance and administration, as pictures on Platform X showed. At the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research, almost 100 children were able to take a look at the various administrative units.
At the Keystone-SDA news agency, schoolchildren visited the newsroom in Bern Wankdorf and took on the role of journalists at a "Federal Council media conference" in the Federal Palace media center.
Pupils in grades 5 to 7 also had the opportunity to consciously change their perspective on Future Day: under the motto "Changing sides", they accompanied a reference person who works in a gender-atypical profession - or chose an offer from the special projects offered by 1872 companies, such as SBB.
By entering professions in which their gender was previously underrepresented, they discovered hidden talents and gained the courage to explore professions that they might never have considered before. The National Future Day thus makes an important contribution to gender equality in career choices and life planning, the organizers announced on Thursday.
In total, over 12,000 project places were offered as part of the Future Day, they added. For 25 years, the project day has shown thousands of young people perspectives and motivated them to make independent life plans.
The Future Day is a project of the gender equality offices of several cantons, the cities of Bern, Lucerne and Zurich as well as the Principality of Liechtenstein. The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation supports the Future Day financially.
