The US president recently presented a controversial plan to "take over" the Gaza Strip, forcibly relocate around two million Palestinians to Arab states in the region and transform the coastal area into an economically flourishing "Riviera of the Middle East" under US control.

However, Israel's neighbors Egypt and Jordan vehemently oppose the accommodation of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip on their land. Both countries are among the USA's closest allies in the region. According to official figures, Jordan received around 1.3 billion US dollars from Washington last year, while Egypt received just under 215 million dollars. Jordan's King Abdullah II is expected to meet with Trump at the White House on Tuesday, according to the Jordanian royal court.
