Following the breakthrough in the Gaza negotiations, an international summit is planned in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi are to chair the meeting, according to the Foreign Ministry in Cairo. The foreign ministers of both countries, Marco Rubio and Badr Abdel-Atti, discussed the preparations in a telephone call. A date for the summit was not specified.

Trump has announced that he intends to set off on a trip to Egypt and Israel on Sunday. In Egypt, he said he wanted to attend an "official signing" of the agreement between Israel and the Islamist Hamas, and he also wanted to give a speech to the Israeli parliament in Israel. Trump is expected to return to the USA on Tuesday evening.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, whom al-Sisi has invited to Egypt for a ceremony to mark the agreement, is also expected to attend. According to German government sources, the Chancellor has gratefully accepted the invitation. However, a trip by the Chancellor has not yet been officially confirmed.
