Politics Gaza talks: Hezbollah accuses Israel of deception

Lebanese Hezbollah has accused Israel of lying and deceiving the public after its heavy attack in the Gaza Strip. "The talk of a ceasefire and new dates for negotiations are nothing but lies and deception," the militia declared. Israel's "real choice is to kill and carry out massacres". The Palestinians have been subjected to the "most heinous massacre" for more than ten months.

According to Palestinian reports, dozens of people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a school building in the city of Gaza. A spokesman for the Hamas-controlled Palestinian civil defense spoke of at least 93 dead in the building used as refugee accommodation. The Israeli military confirmed the attack, which it said was aimed at a Hamas command center located in the attacked building. None of the claims could be independently verified.

Hezbollah in Lebanon is allied with the Islamist Hamas. Since the beginning of the Gaza war, Israel has been engaged in another low-threshold war with the militia, particularly on their common border. Following the killing of the Hezbollah military commander and the Hamas foreign chief, an announced retaliation by Hezbollah has been expected for days.
