The Ukrainian General Staff has admitted a Russian advance on the south-eastern Ukrainian region of Dnipropetrovsk. However, this was repulsed.
"The Russian propaganda report about the capture of a bridgehead in the Dnipropetrovsk region is therefore not true," the staff in Kiev announced. The settlement of Datschne is still under Ukrainian control. Most of the Russian soldiers were killed during the defense. Two were captured by Ukrainian marines.
Russian military observers had previously announced the capture of the village of Datschne on the border between the Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions. Ukrainian sources confirmed at least fighting in the area of the village.
Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian invasion for more than three years. The Kremlin claims the entire territories of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson and has ordered the establishment of buffer zones along the borders defined by Moscow.
