Police measures are still taking place, said a spokesman for the Düsseldorf police this morning. This will remain the case for days, if not weeks. "The matter is not yet closed", the spokesman emphasized. However, he could not give any details.
On Monday afternoon, the police searched an area near the refugee accommodation in Solingen where the suspected perpetrator Issa Al H. lived. The police said that they had received new information and now wanted to take another look at certain areas. A dpa reporter reported that, among other things, a pedestrian tunnel near the refugee accommodation had been cordoned off. The media had speculated that the confessional video distributed by the Islamic State (IS) terrorist militia could have been recorded there.
On Friday evening, three people were killed with a knife at a town festival in Solingen, North Rhine-Westphalia. Eight people were injured, four of them seriously. The alleged perpetrator is a 26-year-old Syrian who is now in custody. The German federal prosecutor's office is investigating him for murder and on suspicion of being a member of the IS terrorist militia. The latter claimed responsibility for the attack.
