"Enough people have warned against high tariffs, but the Federal Council believes it is enough to send its Secretary of State for Economic Affairs to the USA," criticized the GLP President, according to the text of his speech. "He is living in an illusory world."
The Trump tariffs highlighted the benefits of good relations with the European Union. However, Grossen also criticized the government for being too passive on this issue. "We expect the Federal Council to bring the Bilaterals III to parliament quickly and to defend the good outcome of the negotiations with passion and vehemence."
Switzerland must also do its homework when it comes to security. "Just as we can't deny climate change, we can't pretend that security policy changes don't concern us," said Grossen.
