According to Hamas, a total of 30 people were killed at humanitarian distribution centers during Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip. Dozens more were reportedly injured. The Israeli army denied this in the evening. A preliminary investigation has shown that the military "did not shoot at civilians while they were near or inside the humanitarian aid distribution center and that the reports are therefore false," it said.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which distributes meals through the centers, had also previously denied the reports. "Our aid was distributed today without incident," it said in a statement. More than 4.7 million meals have been distributed since the start of the operation. "We are aware of rumors actively spread by Hamas regarding alleged deaths and injuries today," it said. "These are untrue and fabricated."
The Hamas media office had reported an Israeli attack in a buffer zone in Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip, where the foundation had been distributing aid. The information cannot be independently verified.
Israel allows the foundation to distribute aid in the Gaza Strip in order to bypass UN aid organizations and other initiatives. The UN has criticized this and accused Israel of using humanitarian aid as a weapon. After almost three months of blockade, Israel had once again allowed aid deliveries to the starving population on a limited scale.
According to Israel, it wants to use the new system to prevent Hamas from diverting humanitarian aid to itself. Instead, it wants to hand over the aid directly to the people in Gaza. The UN says that Israel has provided no evidence that Hamas is controlling the aid. However, eyewitnesses in the sealed-off Gaza Strip have confirmed several times in the past that Hamas fighters have hijacked aid deliveries.
