Rally Healthcare staff demonstrate in Bern for strong nursing care
At least 3,000 people gathered on the Bundesplatz on Saturday afternoon to demonstrate for the rapid implementation of the care initiative. They demanded fair working conditions and safe healthcare.

"Clapping won't get us back into the profession" was written on one of the many banners they brought with them. A colorful group of people demonstrated on the Bundesplatz, as a reporter from the Keystone-SDA news agency reported. It was mainly people from the healthcare sector who had their say.
Four years after the vote on the care initiative, the demonstrators complained that concerns such as secure staffing ratios and working conditions that meet requirements had still not been met.
Instead, the healthcare system is falling deeper and deeper into a crisis with an increasingly ageing population, they claimed in their appeal. The rally was organized by the professional association of nursing staff and the VPOD, Unia and Syna trade unions.
