In its morning report, the military announced that there had been 29 Russian assaults on the section of the front near the small town of Torezk alone. A village called Nju-Jork was particularly embattled there. The enemy had also used glide bombs dropped by aircraft.
Torezk is located in the Donetsk region, as is the second particularly affected section of the front, Pokrovsk. There was talk of 26 attacks there. Russian troops are slowly continuing their advance here following the capture of the town of Avdiivka in February.
The military data on individual battles may not be reliable down to the last detail, but overall the daily statistics provide an overview of the intensity and focus of the battles. The General Staff spoke of 144 Russian attack attempts since Wednesday morning. According to an unofficial report, the Ukrainian troops had to abandon the village of Kaliniwka near the town of Chassiv Yar.
According to Kiev, Russia used 16 combat drones and 3 guided missiles in night-time air strikes. All of the drones and two of the missiles were shot down, the Ukrainian air force announced.
Ukrainian drone attack on Crimea
For their part, the Ukrainians concentrated their attacks at night on the Crimean peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014. According to the Ministry of Defense in Moscow, 33 Ukrainian drones were shot down over Crimea and two drones over the Bryansk border region.
Ten naval drones were also intercepted off the coast of Crimea. These figures cannot be independently verified. Shots were heard at night in the naval city of Sevastopol in Crimea. One of the remote-controlled combat boats had been repelled there, explained city chief Mikhail Rasvozhayev on his telegram channel. There was no information on possible damage.
Ukraine has been fending off a Russian invasion for almost two and a half years.
