According to the Israeli military, a high-ranking Hezbollah commander was killed in Lebanon on Wednesday. Israel and the Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah have been fighting almost daily since the beginning of the Gaza war. Recently, the intensity of the fighting has increased significantly. There have been casualties on both sides. There are fears that the conflict could escalate. Israel wants Hezbollah to withdraw behind the Litani River, 30 kilometers from the border - as stipulated by a UN resolution. The Iranian-backed militia, on the other hand, does not want to stop its shelling until there is a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
