Nasrallah said on Wednesday that the Islamist Hezbollah militia would also cease its attacks on Israel if a ceasefire was agreed.

Since the beginning of the war in the Gaza Strip, Hezbollah and the Israeli army have repeatedly fought intense battles in the border area between Israel and Lebanon.

"Whatever Hamas accepts, everyone accepts it and is happy with it," said Nasrallah, referring to pro-Iranian groups in the region that are directed against Israel and the USA.

Hezbollah does not demand that Hamas coordinate with it, because the fight is "first and foremost" Hamas'. If a ceasefire is reached, Hezbollah will "cease fire without any discussion".

Since the beginning of the war in the Gaza Strip following the unprecedented large-scale attack on Israel by fighters from the Islamist Hamas and other militant Palestinian groups on October 7, Hezbollah and the Israeli army have been engaged in intense battles in the border area between Israel and Lebanon. The situation is fueling fears of the war in the Gaza Strip spreading to Lebanon.

According to an AFP count, almost 500 people have been killed in the fighting in the border area on the Lebanese side since October. According to the authorities, at least 29 people have been killed on the Israeli side of the border.

Like Hamas, Hezbollah sees itself as part of the "axis of resistance" directed against Israel and supported by Iran.
