At least three people have been killed and more than 80 others injured in Israel's airstrike in Yemen, according to media reports close to the Huthi militia. This was reported by the head of the hospital in the port city of Hudaida, Chalid Suhail, according to the Huthi-affiliated television station Al-Masirah. The station also showed pictures of injured people after the attack, in which large parts of the strategically important port on the Red Sea went up in flames.

The militia, which is allied with Iran, attacked "important targets" in Israel in response, explained its military spokesman Jahja Sari. According to the military, Israel's missile defense system intercepted a surface-to-surface missile approaching Israel from Yemen in the early morning. Previously, a missile alert had been triggered in the area of the southern Israeli port city of Eilat. However, the missile did not enter Israeli territory. There were no reports of casualties.

Israel's air force had attacked the port of Hudaida in response to a deadly drone attack by the Houthi militia on Tel Aviv. A drone loaded with explosives had crashed into a residential building in the center of the coastal city. After the attack in Hudaida, Sari said that they were preparing for a "long war" with Israel.
