Several hundred people took to the streets in Bern on Saturday to mark International Women's Day. They demonstrated against the "right-wing nationalist, anti-queer, anti-feminist tendencies in world politics".

The route led from Bubenbergplatz near Hirschengraben towards the west, as a reporter from the Keystone-SDA news agency observed. At the same time, a carnival parade was taking place in the city center. The police accompanied the demonstration, but initially kept a low profile.

In addition to women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender people (FLINTA for short), their allies were also invited to take part, according to the appeal. The organizers have not applied for a permit.

The rally is intended to send a signal against "patriarchal displacement", the statement continued. This in the context of rising rents, a lack of social security, war and displacement.
