The Ministry of Defense in Moscow reported 398 long-range enemy drones over many parts of Russia, which were allegedly intercepted. According to the Russian state news agency Tass, it was the most serious drone attack from Ukraine recorded to date.

It followed a day on which Russia had launched a maximum number of almost 950 combat drones towards Ukraine in addition to missiles. Two waves of attacks on Tuesday night and during the day resulted in deaths, injuries and serious damage. In the western Ukrainian city of Lviv, historic buildings in the old town, which is a World Heritage Site, were damaged.

Oil port on the Gulf of Finland as a target

On Wednesday, Russian authorities confirmed fires in the port of Ust-Luga, which is important for oil and gas exports. It is located on the Gulf of Finland about one hundred kilometers from St. Petersburg. There were no injuries. Damage to houses was reported on the island of Kronstadt, which is an important naval base for the Russian Baltic fleet. On Monday, Ukrainian drones had set fire to oil tanks in the Baltic Sea port of Primorsk.

Ukraine is trying to take the war, which has been going on for more than four years, back to the aggressor's country. It is deliberately attacking Russian oil and gas industry facilities because Moscow is financing the war through energy exports. Civilians are rarely harmed in the process. Russian airstrikes in Ukraine, on the other hand, regularly hit residential buildings; civilians are killed or injured.
