The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is resisting the suspension of its inspections in Iran. In a status report, IAEA chief Rafael Grossi emphasized that the inspections must continue. He pointed out that this was stipulated in a contract between his organization and Iran.

In response to the Israeli and US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, Iran's parliament recently voted to suspend cooperation with the IAEA until the "security" of the nuclear facilities is guaranteed. Iran's Guardian Council, a powerful supervisory body, has agreed with the parliament. This is seen as an important step before the law comes into force. Officials in Tehran blame the IAEA and Grossi for the attacks because of their reports on Iran's nuclear program.
According to the IAEA, Tehran has not yet officially informed the atomic energy authority in Vienna of the suspension of cooperation. From Grossi's point of view, after the attacks it would be particularly necessary to locate and check the uranium in Iran that is almost suitable for nuclear weapons.
No increased radiation in the Gulf region
Grossi also announced that no increased radiation levels had been measured in the Gulf region following the bombing of the nuclear facilities in Iran.
