The Center Party has started its nomination process for the successor to party president Gerhard Pfister. An individual candidacy must come from the parliamentary group, in the case of a co-candidacy at least one person, it was announced to the media in Bern.

Prior to this, the party's search committee began its work at a constituent meeting. A "strong leader with a clear strategic vision and many years of political experience, a broad political network and strong communication skills" was sought. This was stated by Commission Vice-President Regina Durrer (NR/NW) on Thursday.
The nomination for the post will be made by the centrist cantonal parties. The latter are invited to submit their proposals to the search committee by 12 noon on April 28. The committee is chaired by Charles Juillard, a member of the Council of States from the canton of Jura.
On June 28, the election of a new presidency will take place at the delegates' meeting in Bern.
