The airport in the Syrian capital Damascus is to resume international flight operations from Tuesday. This was announced by the head of the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority, Ashad al-Salibi, to the Syrian news agency Sana.

He also announced that the airports in Damascus and Aleppo would be fully rehabilitated to receive flights from all over the world. During the almost 14-year civil war in Syria, international airlines had almost completely suspended their connections to Syria. On Thursday, the Qatari airline Qatar Airways had already announced that it would resume flights to Damascus airport from Tuesday.
