The former Scottish head of government Nicola Sturgeon is no longer under investigation in connection with irregularities in the finances of her party, the SNP. No charges have been brought, according to the police in Scotland. However, her ex-partner, former SNP treasurer Peter Murrell, was charged with embezzlement. He appeared in court on Thursday, as reported by the British news agency PA.

Sturgeon was head of government in Scotland from 2014 to 2023 and leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP). She was considered the driving force behind the independence movement in the part of the country. Following her resignation due to internal party differences, she was temporarily arrested but immediately released. The investigation lasted around a year and a half.
"All I can say is that I did nothing wrong and I don't think there was any evidence that I did anything wrong," Sturgeon told reporters.
