According to Iran's judiciary, a suspected spy has once again been executed. The death sentence against the man was carried out by hanging, the Misan justice agency reported. According to Tehran, he is said to have spied for the arch-enemy Israel.

According to Islamic law in Iran, the judiciary had convicted the man of "waging war against God" and "corruption on earth". The authorities accused him of attempting to recruit employees and transmit sensitive location data from Iran on behalf of the Israeli foreign intelligence service Mossad.

He had traveled abroad several times - "especially to Germany", the report said. However, no further details were disclosed. The information cannot be independently verified.

According to the Norwegian-based human rights organization IHRNGO, the man was arrested six years ago. According to the organization, at least 113 people were executed in Iran in the first 25 days of 2025.

One month ago, a man was executed there whom the judiciary described as a "leading spy". At the time, human rights activists, citing relatives, reported an unfair trial - with confessions allegedly forced under torture.

Israel has been considered Iran's arch-enemy since the Islamic Revolution in 1979. There have been repeated reports of arrests, trials and executions of suspected agents accused of collaborating with the Mossad or the US secret service CIA.
