Politics Iran: Five schoolgirls killed in rocket attack

At least five schoolgirls have been killed in a rocket attack in southern Iran, according to Iranian reports. An elementary school for girls in the province of Hormuzgan was hit, the Tasnim news agency reported, citing the deputy governor there.

"This school was a direct target of this attack," the report said. Debris removal and rescue operations for the schoolgirls are underway. The incident took place in the Minab district not far from the coast on the Persian Gulf.

Hormuzgan province is home to several naval bases of the Iranian armed forces. No further details of the attack were initially available.
