Following reports about the assassination attempt on Hamas foreign leader Ismail Haniya, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards are spreading their own version of events. According to this, a short-range projectile was used in the attack on Haniya in Tehran, which was equipped with a warhead weighing around seven kilograms and was fired from outside the guest house in the north of the capital. This caused the explosion that killed Haniya, according to a report by the Revolutionary Guards. It is their third report on the attack. The statements in it cannot be independently verified.

In their report, the Revolutionary Guards also hold Israel responsible for the "act of terror", claiming that the country was supported by the USA. Israel has not yet commented on the attack.
Iran had previously rejected all speculation about the method of the attack. US media had reported that Hanija had been killed by a bomb. The explosive device is said to have been placed in the guest house two months before Hanija's trip to Tehran.
Reports about the arrest of Iranian security forces for alleged cooperation with the Israeli secret service and involvement in the attack have not yet been officially confirmed.
