Iran is signaling its willingness in principle to renew nuclear negotiations with the USA - but is calling on President Donald Trump to moderate his tone. "If President Trump is serious about his desire for an agreement, he should drop his disrespectful and unacceptable tone towards Iran's supreme leader, Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and stop harming his millions of loyal followers," Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote on X. "Good will breeds good will, and respect breeds respect."

Trump had announced new talks with Iran for the coming week at the NATO summit, but without giving any details. When asked on Friday whether he would have Iran's nuclear facilities bombed again if there were renewed concerns about Tehran's uranium enrichment, Trump said: "Certainly, without question, absolutely." Iran must not have nuclear weapons. The recent attacks had set back the nuclear program by years, he reiterated.
Following the Israeli and American attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, the Iranian parliament passed a law this week that suspends cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). However, without the technical supervision of the UN nuclear agency, nuclear negotiations would not be possible, according to experts.
