In the presence of President Massoud Peseshkian, Iran has unveiled its new medium-range missile "Etemad". According to the Isna news agency, the new missile has a range of 1,700 kilometers. "Our missile technology serves exclusively to ensure that no one dares to attack us," Peseschkian said at the ceremony. With the missile's range, Iran can reach any part of Israel.

Following the latest developments in Lebanon and Syria, Iran and its "axis of resistance" against arch-enemy Israel is considered to be massively weakened. Added to this is the desolate economic situation. Iran must also fear that US President Donald Trump could further exacerbate the situation with new sanctions. Tehran is therefore trying to keep the diplomatic channel to the Trump administration open as a matter of necessity.

Without the USA, it would not be possible for Iran to resume nuclear negotiations and thus lift the sanctions and improve the economic situation. President Peseshkian is therefore willing to talk, but is waiting for an initial signal from his American counterpart.
