According to Lebanese security sources, there were at least ten airstrikes in remote mountainous regions in the east and south of the country. Near Brital in the Bekaa Valley, video footage showed clouds of smoke rising. Residents reported loud explosions. There was initially no official Lebanese information on exact damage or casualties.
Israel repeatedly attacks targets in the neighboring country, according to its own statements, in order to take action against hostile militias. Israel and the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia agreed on a ceasefire at the end of November 2024 after more than a year of war. Nevertheless, the Israeli military attacks the south and east of Lebanon on an almost daily basis. The attacks repeatedly result in deaths and injuries.
