The launch pad from which Israel had been fired on by Hezbollah for the first time hours earlier had also been destroyed. The military's claims could not initially be independently verified. There was initially no information about casualties in Lebanon.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the shelling on Monday as a serious violation of the ceasefire that had been in place for around ten days and announced a decisive response. The army emphasized that the actors in Lebanon must stop the hostile activities of Hezbollah. Israel remains committed to fulfilling the provisions of the ceasefire agreement.
Israel and Hezbollah have repeatedly accused each other of violating the ceasefire. The Israeli army has repeatedly attacked targets from the air and on the ground in Lebanon. Israel spoke of reactions to violations of the ceasefire by the militia.
