Israel has closed the most important crossing for aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip without giving a reason.

"The Kerem Shalom border crossing is closed today, and no equipment has entered Gaza since yesterday," wrote Omer Dostri, spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Platform X. The Israeli authority for Palestinian affairs Cogat also confirmed the closure on request, without giving reasons.

According to Hamas, around ten container houses had been transported to the Gaza Strip via Kerem Shalom shortly before the closure. The delivery of these makeshift houses for the approximately two million Gaza residents living in tents and ruins is one of Hamas' most important demands for the continuation of the ceasefire and the agreed exchange of Israeli Gaza hostages for imprisoned Palestinians.

On Saturday, a further six Gaza hostages are to be exchanged for 602 Palestinian prisoners, according to Palestinian sources.
