The Israeli armed forces have attacked the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital Beirut for the first time in almost a week. At least eleven airstrikes hit the suburbs known as Dahija, according to Lebanese security sources. A reporter for the German Press Agency reported columns of black smoke rising over the area. The explosions could be heard in large parts of the capital.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, at least three people were killed and five others injured in an attack on a village in the Lebanonberg district south-east of Beirut. One apartment was hit by an Israeli drone, security sources reported. At least one Hezbollah member is said to have been among the victims.
A few hours earlier, the Israeli military had announced attacks on facilities belonging to the Shiite militia Hezbollah in the southern suburbs of Beirut. The armed forces published two maps showing the targets and called on residents to keep at least 500 meters away from the buildings.
