According to the Israeli army, it has discovered a Hezbollah militia tunnel system filled with weapons in southern Lebanon, which was partially located under a cemetery. In the complex under the graves, command and living quarters as well as warehouses with weapons and combat equipment were found, the army announced. There was initially no further information on the location.

Normally, Israeli soldiers blow up such tunnels. In this case, however, the approximately one kilometer long facility had been sealed with around 4,500 cubic meters of concrete, which had been brought in by hundreds of concrete mixer trucks.

In parallel to the war in the Gaza Strip, Israel is also waging a war with the Hezbollah militia. The latter has been firing at Israel for more than a year, according to its own account in support of Hamas, which carried out a massacre in Israel on October 7, 2023, resulting in 1,200 deaths and triggering the war.
