The Israeli air force says it is carrying out large new waves of attacks on targets in Iran and Lebanon. The infrastructure of the Iranian "terror regime" is being attacked in the capital Tehran. At the same time, there are attacks on facilities of the Iranian-backed terrorist organization Hezbollah in the Lebanese capital Beirut, the military explained on Platform X. The Israeli army did not initially provide any further details.

In Israel, sirens sounded at least twice early Tuesday morning due to Iranian attacks. After a short time on each occasion, the missile alert was canceled and the all-clear was given.

The USA and Israel have been at war with Iran for more than two weeks and have already attacked thousands of targets in the country from the air. In return, Iran is attacking both Israel and Gulf states allied with the USA with missiles and drones.

Israel intensifies action against Hezbollah targets

Israel's military is now also taking massive action against the Shiite Hezbollah militia in the northern neighboring country of Lebanon. The operation began as a result of rocket attacks from Lebanon and was initially limited to air strikes, but there are now also operations on the ground.

A military spokesperson announced on Monday evening that the deployment of ground troops in southern Lebanon would be expanded. The army is mobilizing more reservists, said spokesman Effie Defrin. At present, more than 100,000 reserve soldiers are already deployed on all fronts. In Lebanon, there are fears of a large-scale ground invasion by Israel with subsequent occupation in the south of the country.

German government warns of ground offensive

Several countries, including Germany, have warned Israel of a major ground offensive. "A significant Israeli ground offensive would have devastating humanitarian consequences and could lead to a protracted conflict," said the heads of state and government of Germany, France, Italy, Canada and the United Kingdom in a statement. "This must be averted. The humanitarian situation in Lebanon, including the ongoing mass displacement, is already extremely alarming."

According to official figures, more than one million people have been displaced in Lebanon as a result of the recent escalation of the conflict. Around 1,050,000 displaced persons have been registered so far, according to the government's civil protection unit in Beirut. Around 130,000 people have been accommodated in emergency shelters. The Ministry of Health announced that more than 880 people had been killed by Israeli attacks.

In their statement, the heads of state and government condemned Hezbollah's decision to join Iran's attacks on Israel. "Hezbollah's attacks on Israel and its targeted attacks on civilians must stop, Hezbollah must lay down its weapons."

New Iranian attacks on targets in Gulf states

Iran also attacked targets in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia again during the night. The Emirates briefly closed their airspace due to ongoing attacks.

The authorities in Dubai explained that the noise, which could be heard in various areas of the city, was due to air defense interceptions. The Ministry of Defense in Saudi Arabia announced that several drones had been intercepted in the east of the country.

According to unconfirmed media reports, there were new attacks on the US embassy in Baghdad and a US base near the airport in Iraq.

Attack on tanker in the Gulf of Oman

Meanwhile, the British Merchant Shipping Safety Authority reported that a tanker had been hit by an unknown projectile off the coast of the Emirate of Fujairah in the Gulf of Oman. No one was injured. The ship was anchored a good 40 kilometers off the coast, it was reported.

The small emirate of Fujairah, which belongs to the United Arab Emirates, is located south of the Strait of Hormuz - a strategically important strait that forms the entrance to the Persian Gulf.
