According to Israel's military, more than 180 Hezbollah fighters were killed within a minute in a coordinated wave of attacks on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon. According to the army, around 100 targets were hit on Wednesday in Beirut, the Bekaa Valley and southern Lebanon, including command centers, military infrastructure and weapons depots.

The military also stated that Hezbollah fighters had prepared and planned attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians from these command centers. Most of the facilities attacked were located in the middle of civilian residential areas.

The army accused Hezbollah of using Lebanese civilians as human shields. This is strictly forbidden under international humanitarian law and constitutes a war crime.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, at least 357 people were killed and a further 1,223 injured in Wednesday's airstrikes in Beirut and other regions. The previous death toll was 303.
