While there are signals from the USA for a possible understanding with Iran, Israel's defense minister announces an expansion of Israeli attacks in Iran. According to Israel Katz's office, the reason for this is the ongoing rocket fire from the country into Israel.
Israel's army will therefore "escalate" its attacks and take aim at more targets and areas in Iran. The focus will therefore be on targets in connection with Iranian weapons.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and he had called on Tehran to stop rocket attacks on Israel's civilian population, said Katz. But despite the warnings, the shelling continued.
In the early afternoon, there had been renewed rocket fire from Iran in Israel. There were initially no reports of damage or casualties.
