The Israeli army has ordered residents of the southern suburbs of Beirut to leave their homes. "They are close to Hezbollah facilities and interests," explained an army spokesperson. Residents should move at least 500 meters away from the buildings marked in red on an Israeli army map.
Shortly after this warning, several airstrikes were carried out in the region. A reporter for the German Press Agency counted at least four explosions that sent clouds of black smoke billowing into the sky. The state news agency NNA reported at least six attacks.
Some residents tried to warn their neighbors of the impending attacks by firing shots, which led to an exodus from the affected area. The evacuation order and subsequent attacks have further exacerbated tensions in the region.
Continued attacks in the south
The Israeli army is also continuing its attacks in the south of the country. According to Lebanese figures, the ongoing conflict with Hezbollah has already claimed more than 3,300 lives and injured over 14,300 people. The humanitarian situation is deteriorating rapidly as the violence continues to escalate.
