Lebanese security sources reported that the Israeli military had attacked in Taiba, Tir Dabba and Aita al-Jabal. A photographer from the German Press Agency reported that a house had been hit in the village of Tir Dabba.
The Israeli army had previously called on residents to leave some buildings in the three villages. Nevertheless, the military emphasized that it was not a "large-scale evacuation".
A dpa journalist on site observed how the warning caused panic among residents in the affected villages. Parents rushed to school to pick up their children. Roads were closed. "I can't stand living in fear anymore," said one woman.
Lebanon: Dead in an Israeli attack in the morning
The Lebanese Ministry of Health also reported one dead and eight injured in an Israeli attack that had already occurred in the morning near the port city of Tyre. According to the Israeli army, the attack also targeted Hezbollah infrastructure and members.
The situation between Israel and Hezbollah has recently come to a head again. Israel and its ally, the USA, are pushing for Hezbollah to be completely disarmed. A ceasefire has been in place since the end of November last year. However, Israel accuses Hezbollah of rearming and therefore continues to attack almost daily.
Observers believe that further major attacks in Lebanon are possible. US envoy Tom Barrack and the Israeli government have also recently warned of further steps if Hezbollah does not lay down its weapons.
