According to Israel's army, it has attacked suspected Hezbollah members who are said to have approached Israeli soldiers in the south of the neighboring country several times since the ceasefire with Lebanon began. They had violated the ceasefire agreement and posed an immediate threat to the soldiers, the military announced in the afternoon. There were several such incidents.
Israel's army is entitled to defend itself within the framework of the ceasefire agreement, the statement continued. "In order to eliminate the threat, the Israeli Air Force, together with ground forces, carried out precise attacks on the terrorists." Artillery fire was also used. In response to the threats, the military in southern Lebanon also targeted facilities that had been used by Hezbollah for attacks.
The Arab broadcaster Al Jazeera and the Hezbollah broadcaster Al-Manar reported Israeli artillery fire on several locations in southern Lebanon. There were initially no reports of casualties during the course of the day.

Israeli soldiers are still stationed in southern Lebanon. Officially, the country speaks of a so-called "security zone" to protect northern Israel from Hezbollah attacks. Displaced residents are currently unable to return to the area. According to Israeli sources, all houses in villages near the border in southern Lebanon are also to be destroyed. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz justified this highly controversial plan by saying that Hezbollah would use the buildings for its own purposes.
